T CAL 4 Locking Hands
Tunisian CAL 4 : Locking Hands
thdc
- Tunisian half double crochet, tdc - Tunisian double crochet
Ch : Chain FR: Foundation
Row F: forward R: Return FP :Forward Pass RP: Return Pass Yo: yarn over TSS : Tunisian Simple
Stitch THDCS: Tunisian Half Double
Crochet TDC: Tunisian Double Crochet |
Yarn: C1: Color 1 C2: Color 2 C3: Color 3 |
TSS: Insert hook from front to back between front vertical bars of a
stitch YO and pull up a loop
Thdc: Yarn over, insert hook from right to left under
next front vertical bar, YO and pull up a loop
Return pass, work the left edge stitch as
normal, YO pull through 2, Yo pull through 3, Yo pull through 3 till the end,
at right end you will be left with 2 loops on hook
Tdc: Yarn over , Insert hook from right to left under next front
vertical bar, YO and pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops, continue till the
end and the edge stitch YO insert hook into the edge stitch YO pull up a loop Yo pull through 2
Important: Since the previous row was done in Thdc, pick up loop by inserting
into 2 front vertical bars of each stitch
RP: Yo pull through 1, YO pull through 2, … Normal RP
Color Change at the left edge: Pull up a loop with
new color, then normal RP
Color Change on right edge: with 2 stitches
remaining in RP, pick up the next color
Bind off Row:
Insert the hook in the next bar (second vertical bar) Yo , pull up a loop and
pull through the loop on the hook, ( one loop on hook left)
Insert into the vertical bar of next
stitch, yo pull up a loop and pull through the loop on the hook, continue this
till the end and fasten off
Note1: Always start FP with a ch 1 to compensate for
the height of Thdc and Tdc
Note 2: I have used Ganga
Alisha : chain 36 + 2
It is slightly
bigger than 12”
Hence 34 + 2
stiches would work fine with this yarn
If you are using any other yarn,
other than that mentioned here, you will have to use 2 sizes bigger hook than
recommended and the stitch count to suit the length
You will be required to test the
gauge before working on the project
Yarn:
Vardhman Zaima/
Ganga Alisha : chain 36 (34+2) or as per
your gauge to measure 11.5”
Hook : 8.00mm
1.
With C1, Chain the number of stitches
required to measure 11.5”
Foundation Row
(The first Forward and Return Pass will create the foundation Row)
Forward Pass: Stick the hook into the back bump of second chain from the hook
and pull up a loop. Continue across the chain, pulling up a loop in each back
bump, leaving all loops on the hook.
At the end of the
chain, you will have the same number of loops on the hook as chains that you
started with.
Reverse pass: Yarn over and pull through
one loop *Yarn over again and pull through 2 loops * Continue * * till you have one loop left on the hook
The remaining loop on the hook is the right
edge stitch
For this pattern
at the end of Foundation stitch change color in the right edge
To start the next
Forward Row always skip the front bar of the right edge stitch and begin with
the second bar mentioned (= first stitch) to pull up a loop)
Row 1: With C2 (color 2) Ch1, Thdc in each of the stitches across (
each front vertical bar)
RP: Yo, pull through 2, Yo pull through 3 loops , Yo pull through 3….
till 2 loops are left on the hook work the last loop withC1
R 2 : With C1 , Ch1, work Tdc in each of the stitches across (each
front vertical bar)
edge st
Change color C3 in the left edge for Reverse Pass
R3, R5, R7, R9….. same as Row 1 with C2
(odd rows)
R4: With C3 work TDC in each of the stitches across (each front vertical bar) ,
after edge stitch change color to C1 , work RP with C1
Note3: Tdc are worked in 2 colors C1 and C3 alternatively in even
Rows
Repeat Rows 1 to 4 to the desired length ,
Work TSS for the last Row with Color C1
and work bind off stitches
Fasten off
Do the border with
Sc/Hdc
